Anne Marie Hagan is a motivational speaker who will be in Clarenville Nov.29/11, 7:00pm at the Clarenville Event Centre and in Bonavista Nov. 30/11, 7:00pm at the Garrick Theatre. Anne Marie tells an amazing true story that changed her life, and will probably change yours. Anne Marie's journey from tragedy to forgiveness instills, hope and invigorates the human spirit. Anne Marie started her speaking career 2002. Since then she has spoken to more than 20,000 people across Canada. She was chosen as the 2004 influential person of the Year by the Downhomer, was profiled in the W-Five TV documentary and CBC TV radio.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2011 (larger version)
In honour of this important day, Eastern Region Committee Against Violence will be hosting an evening of entertainment for seniors in the Clarenville Area in hopes to raise awareness of this important problem in our society.
Please join us August 9,2011 at 6:30pm at the Elizabeth Swan Park!
Entertainment by: Slainte
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

This event had to be postponed due to weather. It will now be held August 9,2011 at 6:30pm

Starting November 25, 2010 the Purple Ribbon Campaign started across the Province. This campaign is to help create awareness and prevent violence against women in the province.

Vigil at the College of North Atlantic. (larger version)
There will be two Vigils held on December 6, 2010. The College of the North Atlantic in Clarenville will have their Remembrance Day Vigil at 12:00pm on Dec 6, 2010 and the College of the North Atlantic in Bonavista will hold their Vigil at 10:30am on Dec 6, 2010.

Clarenville Caribous are proud to partnership with Eastern Region Committee Against Violence on the White Ribbon Campaign. The White Ribbon Campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women. In over Fifty-five countries,campaigns are led by both men and women,even though the focus is on educating men and boys. In 1991, a handful of men in Canada decided that wearing a white ribbon would be a symbol of men's opposition to violence against women.
The official launching of the White Ribbon Campaign will be held at the Clarenville Caribous hockey game, November 13, 2010. Afer the hockey game a banner with the Caribous pledge will be permanently placed in the front entrance of the Event Center.

ERCAV will be hosting Community Walks Against Violence this coming August in Clarenville, Bonavista and Arnold's Cove (first year).

Walks are planned for the following dates:

Clarenville – Wednesday, August 18th
Meet at YouthTube Youth Center at 7pm (26 Manitoba Drive)

Bonavista – Thursday, August 19th
Meet in front of the Post Office at 7pm

Arnold's Cove – Tuesday, August 24th
Meet in front of the Fire Hall at 7pm

All walks went over with great success. We would like to thank everyone that participated in each community walk. Hope to see everyone again next year!
